The Day of typography in Switzerland is organized on a yearly basis since 1989. Previous editions of the prestigious one day conference included legendary designers such as Wolfgang Weingart, Adrian Frutiger, and Gerard Unger, among others.

This year’s Event, organized in Basel, gathered a list of speakers with different background and discipline from Switzerland, UK, Germany and The Netherlands. Each speaker presented his work and design environment with a strong typographic focus. The line up of speakers included Hans Kern; Jeanette Derrer and Darren Bowles (Moving Brands); Fabienne Burri and Cybu Richli (c2f); Claude Kuhn; Detlef Fiedler and Daniela Haufe (Cyan); and Tarek Atrissi (Tarek Atrissi Design).

Tarek Atrissi gave a talk on Arabic Typography and bilingual typographic design practice to an international audience. The status of design in the Arab world and the trends and challenges were showcased in a typographic context.
