Upon invitation from the Jordan Media Institute in Amman, Arabictypography.com conducted a week long workshop on the theme of Arabic newspaper design. The workshop was open to professional designers working in local newspapers. Participants included designers, art directors and news-designers from Addustour Newspaper, Alrai newspaper, Jordan Times, AlGhad Newspaper, Al-Arab-Alyawm Newspaper, among others. The workshop combined lectures, discussions and practical assignments, covering topics such as newspaper branding in the Arab world; The importance of Arabic typography for newspaper layouts; as well as layout design and information graphics for newspapers.

The Workshop was conducted by Tarek Atrissi. At the end of the week participants presented a front page design of an Arabic Newspaper (fictional or existing) that they have re-designed.
